“A cinematic, new-age score. Secret In The Heart documents the first two meetings of violinist Zachary Paul and musician/producer Nick Podgurski. Podgurski joins Paul with an assortment of synthesizers and ambient pads. Wielding stillness gracefully; it is somber, hopeful, and alive. Paradoxical movement between mood and perception permeates the silence. 

Composed and arranged from two sessions in the winter of 2021. 

Secret In The Heart conjures touchstones in the work of the late Mark Hollis, RyuichiSakamoto + Alva Noto's Soundtrack to The Revenant, Arvo Part, and Angelo Badalamenti’s collaboration with David Lynch. “

Night Prayer is deep drone for moments of the dimming day. Dry heat, mirage, and the illusory fingers of evening’s shadow gather and smear the energies of the waking world for reconstitution in another place. The atmosphere changes. The coolness of the air on our skin. Something new is forming.

I am sitting in snow and cold dreaming of the cold coastal cliffs in the rain. This elemental severity and compassion for what receives it is the theme of this release. Heaving, weighty, elemental. Heavy ambient drone.
